Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2.
Whereas with games such as Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3, there is only so much balance that could be brought into the game; the rest is pure skill. The same goes for this game too, but with the added bonus of Valve's super care for the consumer and gameplay, Team Fortress 2 is one of the most fun things to play, even if you aren't that great.
You could play as the Heavy, and use brute force over tactics, or you could the Spy and use the option of stealth in your favour. Or the Demoman for a strategic method of play to take down the run and gun Scouts.
Most recently I have gotten into the role of the Medic. In this role, you run around and do little killing yourself, (you tend to leach off other's kills.) But also, you are the medic. Your top priority is keeping that Heavy from dying over and over, while also healing the trigger happy Soldiers to prevent them from exploding into gibs. On top of all of this, you will have to make sure you aren't dying either.
E!

Even if you don't enjoy sticking behind people, and always having to tend to everyone's needs, you can always choose another class to fit you. That's the brilliance of the game, you can choose out of 9 classes, and there is always one that will fit the shell of your gaming ways.
With the recent updates, I've dived back into this pool of goodness, to refresh myself in the FPS genre, and to finally realise this has one of the best communities out there. If you haven't tried this out yet, I highly recommend you do. It's excellence of the team based shooter, and mastery of sucking you into addicting gameplay, is enough to justify it's criminally low price.

See you on there, Joel.
