Inception

What do you get when you cross the brilliance of well written novel mixed with a beautifully shot film? Inception, a film about thieves in your dreams and a crafted plot done to the highest standards, it beats down on every other film this year.

Chris Nolan has out done himself in so many ways. His line up of actors fit like a snug mitten into the characters they're given. Add the fact they are incredibly fleshed out in the two hours of screen time divided up for them during the magnificent action sequences, it's outstanding. I do have to point out though, I don't agree with his creation of the lone female member of the team- Aridane - as she seems lifeless and rather spread thin compared to the lathered on lard of Orlando Bloom's Dom Cobbs. It just juts out as they spend most of the movie in conversation with each other.
It's CGI, effects and just general shots of the film are excellent to sit in front of; especially the Dream Sequences and effects of the outside world upon the dreamers. The action is intense, and quite unpredictable, and with the basic rules of what they lay down while dreaming becoming more and more complex, the film does a wonderful job of keeping you up to speed and guessing as to what will happen next.
Usually, with some films the time limit and restrictions of the audiences attention span go against something like this. Something with so many rules and different occurrences happening in one place, it can get quite confusing. I would beg for them to give up and turn it into a TV series. (Imagine if Lost was a 2 hour movie?) But this film fails to become too convoluted and skilfully rounds up the experience for those not paying much attention in one fell swoop.
It also does a marvellous job of getting you to know characters, without ever actually knowing they're names properly. Most of the names escaped me, and if it weren't for a quick google, this block of text would be littered with "her" and "him." It gives the illusion of involving you in the story, as Fischer, (the main centre of the plot, and the whole 'Inception',) barely even knows them, and either do you.

Magnificent spectacles, awesome story line, and brillaint characters. Chris Nolan might have just set the bar far too high for anyone to reach this year.

Side notes: I enjoyed Cobb's right hand man more than Cobb himself.
Nolan has a habit of reusing brilliant actors.
