Super Mario Galaxy 2 : The Expansion Pack?

Hallo there.
If you are one of the several people who played Super Mario Galaxy, then you will know it was a brilliant game - it was 2007, and the multiple spherical, gravity orientated worlds that Mario burst onto felt new and exciting. Well, Mario is back, with some more worlds to jump and Wa-hoo! his way around.
Strangely, Nintendo chose to market this game as though Galaxy 1 had never happened. Mario is off to the castle (again) and good ol' Bowser turns up (again) and snatches Peach and off he goes, the centre of the universe, giant empire, blah blah blah. Yet Mario and his Toad buddies act as though this is all brand new! Did they not put up some bloody defenses after it happened the last 40 times?
Whilst it may be stupid to rant about the continuity of the Mario world's storyline, it does rob some of the sparkle from the game, as you watch with a "been there, done that" expression on your face.
Anyway - there are some important improvements in Galaxy 2 - the most notable being a smaller hub world (a spaceship that looks like Mazza's head) that makes accessing all the brilliant new galaxies quickly and easily. And the new galaxies are brilliant, with Nintendo showing more innovation and creativity. The 2.5D levels really stand out, and set the example for what New Super Mario Bros. Wii should have been.
The controls are the same as ever, very intuitive, with shaking controlling the new rock and cloud powerups. Yoshi is a nice addition to the game but perhaps makes things too easy by eating everything in his path. But the difficulty has been ramped up generally, and there are some pretty frustrating levels, in particular the Prankster Comets (again!)
Overall, its still a great game, but dont expect to be blown away like you were in No.1

Daniel.
